Pongal Celebrations at Sembawang RC
On 19 Jan 2025, we were delighted to celebrate the Tamil harvest festival of Pongal at Sembawang RC with our migrant worker community. A Feast of Love With Guest-worker Brothers
During the Deepavali month, AGWO and My Fellow Workers (City Harvest Church) organised A Feast of Love, bringing to 1,600 guest-worker brothers at Tuas South Recreation Centre. The evening was filled with heartwarming festivities, including a mouthwatering Briyani feast, traditional sweets, lively stage games, photobooths and a generous "blessing draw". Deepavali Gifts and Celebrations for Guest-worker Brothers
Through the support from Dorm Mums, our guest-worker brothers celebrated Deepavali in Singapore with the community, which reminded them of home. Cultural Crossroads Carnival @ Kranji Recreation Centre
In November, AGWO, Victoria Junior College Interact Club and Earth Watch organised a Cultural Crossroads Carnival over two weekends at Kranji Recreation Centre. Migrant workers learn computer basics, find friends in classes run by non-profit organisation
The space is part of the newly opened Sembawang Recreation Centre, the first of nine centres that provide dedicated spaces for non-governmental organisations serving migrant workers. Health Screening for Migrant Workers @ Terusan RC
Photo credits: Sembawang Interact Club Together with Sembawang Interact Club, AGWO organised a health screening for our guest-worker brothers and cared about their wellbeing. The screening has helped our brothers to be aware and take actions to improve their health. The screening included blood pressure measurement, visual acuity test, blood glucose prick, as well as basic warm-up exercises and health education.
