Love Your Unseen Neighbour (LYUN), a movement under Hope Initiative Alliance, organised a National Day celebration on 30 August 2024 for approximately 50 senior citizens, all aged over 60, residing in one-room rental flats in Sembawang and Yishun. The event, supported by SowCare and CityLight Community Church, featured the distribution of National Day Ang Pows—cash gifts generously donated by the Far East Organization.
This initiative forms part of LYUN's ongoing efforts to provide both financial and social assistance to vulnerable groups in Singapore, such as senior citizens in rental housing, elderly cardboard collectors, and tissue sellers across various neighbourhoods. The movement aims to strengthen community bonds and alleviate isolation among underprivileged seniors.
In addition to its charitable activities, LYUN emphasises the importance of fostering good neighbourliness by encouraging acts of love, compassion, and empathy towards individuals experiencing financial hardship and social invisibility. Through these initiatives, LYUN helps cultivate more inclusive and caring communities.
