Meal Distribution to the Marginalised Community and Healthcare Workers

Updated: Feb 1

On 11 September 2021, Life Centre Community Services and Hope Initiative Alliance (HIA) will be distributing festive meals to about 100 families in an HDB apartment block in Yishun, Singapore. The event is called All in, All Together!, in partnership with SowCare Together, Nee Soon Central Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC), Life Centre (Smyrna Assembly), and Wellington Primary School.

The All in, All Together! Project is a ground-up initiative by a few like-minded individuals who have come together to lend a helping hand to support fellow Singaporeans during these trying times. This initiative is a continuation of Life Centre Community Services and HIA’s efforts to care for the needy and to bring some cheer to the community, and to support and appreciate our healthcare frontliners for their unconditional efforts during this pandemic.

30 volunteers have been mobilized in order to deliver a care package (valued at $60 per household) to 100 underprivileged households in Yishun Block 162, to cover essential grocery items inclusive of healthier and sustainable choice items. The volunteers will be distributing 250 sumptuous care meals to the frontline staff from a government hospital. These meals will be prepared by a chain of selected restaurants. Rev Ezekiel Tan, the Chairman of HIA said, “HIA is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Life Centre Community Services to serve and care for our fellow Singaporeans who are in need, especially those who are struggling in these challenging times. This is also our chance to extend our gratitude towards the healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly.”

The Executive Director of Life Centre Community Services and the Chief Outreach Officer of HIA, Rev Samuel Gift Stephen said, “In these trying times, it is so nice to see the community coming together to support one another. Singapore was built on the foundations of our pledge regardless of race, language and religion. This event, All In, All Together!, echoes this call for individuals to look beyond themselves and to serve each other.”

We would like to thank our donors, partners and volunteers for giving their benevolence, time and contributions to make this such a fulfilling event for our fellow Singaporeans.
