Project Sunshine Outing on 19 October 2020
The Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach—a movement of Hope Initiative Alliance—is glad to be able to partner Covenant Evangelical Free Church (CEFC) in a Project Sunshine outing for 32 guest workers at Hort Park on 19 October. The guest workers enjoyed some much needed outdoor leisure time, through an afternoon of games and a meal together with volunteers from CEFC, all while ensuring that safe distancing measures were in place.
We are also grateful for the support of the Ministry of Manpower and NParks that make these Project Sunshine outings possible.
Contact us at info@hia.sg should you wish to partner us and organise such outings for guest workers!
Project Sunshine: Organised Outing for Guest Workers
As the nation adjusts to a new normal in lieu of the COVID-19 situation, many guest workers in Singapore are also recuperating from months of isolation and homesickness as they prepare to resume work in the months ahead. In order to assist these workers in this transitional phase, the Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach (AGWO)—a movement of Hope Initiative Alliance (HIA)—seeks to continue supporting government efforts in providing holistic wellbeing and mental wellness for the guest workers.
On 2 Sep, HIA and AGWO partnered with MOM with the support of NParks to organise a series of outdoor group activities for the guest workers at Labrador Park and Hort Park. The guest workers spent the afternoon engaging in a time of mini games, had a short walk around their respective parks and a warm meal of chicken biryani—all while ensuring that safe distancing measures were in place.
This activity is an exercise to prepare for the launch of a subsequent series of outdoor recreational events under “Project Sunshine”, in collaboration with various partners—the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, SowCare and A Good Space, etc.
While plans have been made to host more guest workers for more outdoor activities under Project Sunshine, we need your support and kind giving to make these plans a reality.
We invite you to contribute to improving the mental wellbeing of our guest workers today!
